Your island guide to the best beaches, events, nature, life & culture
Perched on a low cliff between the beaches of Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas, the Mirador de las Palomas is a modern, accessible lookout offering wide ocean vistas, volcanic coastline, and a front-row view of the resort skyline. This photo walk starts with a coastal panorama and then follows the walkway, entrance, and signage that help visitors enjoy this scenic stop on the Tenerife promenade network.
This elevated terrace overlooks a black-sand beach, breakwaters and the pink-paved promenade that threads along the shore. It is a great spot to orient yourself before continuing either toward La Caleta or in the direction of Playa de las Américas.
The viewpoint is set into the volcanic tuff, with a small gate marking the start of the path. Clear signage from the Adeje Town Hall lists safety guidance and confirms that the mirador is accessible.
The path rises gently along the edge of the cliff, bordered by low walls and native coastal plants. It’s a calm section of the promenade that rewards a slow stroll and frequent photo stops.
Looking east, the skyline of Playa de las Américas unfolds, with breakwaters, palm-lined paths and long views toward Montaña Chayofita. On clear days you can also make out La Gomera across the water.
Directly beneath the terrace sit lush hotel gardens and pools—an eye-catching contrast with the lava rock and the slate-colored beach. The combination of greenery and volcanic textures is typical of Costa Adeje’s landscape design.
One of the viewpoint’s quirky touches is a stone parapet inset with coordinates and an inscription that reads “No estás perdido, estás aquí / You are here.” It’s a popular stop for a quick snapshot and orientation.
Whether you come for sunrise strolls or sunset colors, Mirador de las Palomas delivers classic south-Tenerife views with easy access and plenty of room for photos. Add it to your Costa Adeje walking route for a scenic pause above the Atlantic.
