Hiking Montaña Roja Volcano and Exploring the Volcanic Coastline of Tenerife

Located in the south of Tenerife near El Médano, Montaña Roja is a volcanic cone rising from the coastal plains. Its dramatic red slopes, formed from ancient lava, create a stark and beautiful contrast against the blue Atlantic Ocean. This natural reserve is ideal for those seeking unique geology, sweeping seascapes, and accessible hiking trails.

The summit provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding coastline. The trail leading up Montaña Roja is dry and rugged, typical of Tenerife's volcanic terrain, yet manageable for most hikers.

One of the most striking sights from Montaña Roja is Playa de la Tejita, a wide, sandy beach stretching along the coast. From the summit, you can admire the natural beauty of this beach, often less crowded than other tourist areas, and perfect for relaxing or swimming after a hike.
